Why John DePaola
Is The Expert

John DePaola is the Chairman and CEO of Long Home Products — and the #22 ranked home improvement CEO in the nation according to Power100's proprietary 5-layer evaluation system. With over 38 years in the home improvement industry, John has led the transformation of the Long brand from its roots as a Washington, D.C.-area fence company into one of the East Coast's most recognized and trusted home improvement enterprises, now operating across 10 states with over $633 million in annual revenue. John joined Long Fence in the mid-1980s as manager of the ornamental iron division. He moved into installations, was promoted to General Manager of automatic gate openers, and by 1994 was named Vice President of Business Development. That same year, he established the home products division and launched Long Windows, the first of many new Long brands. Within two years, Long Home Products split into its own company. John then built out an entire portfolio of home improvement brands including Long Roofing, Long Doors, Long Siding, Long Baths, and Long Kitchens — creating a comprehensive home improvement ecosystem under one trusted name. Today, Long Home is a fourth-generation family business with operations in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Washington, D.C. John holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Science from Loyola University Maryland and an MBA from the University of Baltimore. He is married to Jill Long DePaola, the company's Chief Brand Officer and daughter of founder Robert Long. Together with their children Katie DePaola Silverman and John DePaola Jr., the family co-founded Bos Effort, an advocacy organization dedicated to increasing mental health education and guidance in memory of their late son and brother, Robert W. "Bo" DePaola. John's leadership philosophy centers on customer delight, brand stewardship, and a relentless commitment to doing things "the Long way" — with integrity, quality, and care at every touchpoint.
