Matt Shoberg grew Shoberg Homes into a ~50-employee 'family of companies' over roughly 20 years, running six to ten high-end custom home builds at a time under a dedicated project-management model.

Keeping eight finish carpenters on staff plus founding Fine Millwork (a 20,000 sq ft cabinet shop in Dripping Springs) lets Shoberg control craftsmanship, prefinishing and critical alignments end-to-end.

His path started in college buying and remodeling cheap Tech Terrace houses with a small inheritance, then remodeling and flipping in Austin's Hyde Park area before landing his first real contract building a garage ADU.

Mentorship was pivotal: father-in-law Stan, a lifelong builder, taught Matt both construction and business and made key introductions across the Austin community.

Building through the 2008 recession meant brutal years and debt, but persistence and faith carried them through the 'difficult doesn't mean it isn't the right road' philosophy.

Austin's luxury-builder market is unusually collaborative: architects introduce clients through interviews rather than three-bid races, and competitors don't badmouth each other.
